The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Sunday held a massive rally in Karachi to show solidarity with MQM Chairman Altaf Hussain, during which party leaders said it was unjust that Hussain’s accounts were frozen despite his cooperation with British authorities in the money laundering issue and other matters.

Delivering his speech in English near Tibet Centre in Karachi Senior party leader Farooq Sattar, requested British Prime Minister David Cameron not to increase difficulties for the person who rules the hearts of hundreds of thousands. He questioned why Hussain’s accounts had been seized without any accusation or proof.

Members of National Assembly, Sindh Assembly and MQM senators and office bearers addressed the rally which was attended by a large number of activists and supporters, including women and children.

Commending the role of armed forces of Pakistan, MQM leader Haider Rizvi called for an end to custodial deaths of party workers in Karachi.

Addressing a mammoth public meeting in Karachi to show solidarity with Hussain, Rizvi alleged that MQM workers are being killed extra-judicially in detention centers.

“We want to know where our missing workers are. We appeal to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to play his role to end the ongoing atrocities against MQM workers,” he said.

“We condemn leveling of baseless allegations against Pakistan Army,” he said.

The MQM leader accused the British government of suppressing Hussain’s voice.

“We are ready to die for our leader. We had no identity. Altaf Hussain gave us our identity,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, MQM leader Rauf Siddiqui said that the British authorities should refrain from harassing Hussain.

Addressing the rally, MQM leader Nabeel Gabol warned that rulers would be in trouble if the people of Karachi stopped paying taxes.

“Karachi needs metro bus and water,” he said, lashing out at Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah for his lack of interest in problems of the people of Karachi.

“Why is Karachi being subjected to discrimination? Is Karachi not part of Pakistan?” he asked.

“If Hussain is not a Pakistani national then Sharif and Chaudhry Nisar are not Pakistani nationals either,” Gabol claimed.

Referring to ongoing money laundering investigation in London against the MQM chairman, Gabol said freezing Hussain’s bank account will not make any difference to the MQM.
