FM Radio-91 could have caused an air crash!

PEMRA temporarily suspends transmission of FM Radio-91 for illegally using 1 KW power

Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) temporarily suspended transmission of FM-91 Radio Islamabad on account of severe violation of terms and conditions of licence and technical parameters approved by the PEMRA.

The FM radio was allowed 50 watts transmit power where as it was illegally using 1 KW power. Moreover, it has not installed any filter. As a result it was causing severe interference of Air Traffic Control of Civil Aviation and could have cause an air crash.

Despite repeated PEMRA notices, the management of FM-91 did not reduced the power at approved level. Finally, on the report of Frequency Allocation Board, PEMRA suspended transmission of FM-91 till the time they reduce power to approved limit of 50 watt.
