Polio awareness seminar held at RAC

Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) in collaboration with Rotary Club of Rawalpindi arranged a seminar to create awareness about polio, in which the participants pledged that they are committed to eradicate polio from Pakistan.

University of Arid Agriculture (UAAR) Vice Chancellor Rae Niaz Ahmed Khan, Naheed Manzoor and Rotary Club Governor Haji Iftikhar Ahmed participated as guests of honour while Health EDO Dr Khalid Randhawa, Dr Benazir from WHO, Moosa Raza, RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed, Rotary Club President Rashid Mashkoor and religious scholars were present on the occasion.

Addressing at the seminar, UAAR VC Rae Niaz Ahmed said that polio should not be taken as an issue but it must be taken as obligatory. He further added that UAAR, its staff and students would lead the awareness campaign about polio.

Naheed Manzoor said that awareness about polio is the need of the time.

Rotary Club Governor Haji Iftikhar Ahmed said that it was tremendous tyranny to kill polio workers especially female, which is against the spirit of Islam. He said that there are only three countries including Pakistan in the world who has still poliovirus.

Health EDO Dr Khalid Randhawa said that RAC and Rotary Club are appreciable for holding such kind of successful event.

Rotary Club President Rashid Mashkoor said such kind of mega event was not possible without efforts of the council.
