For love of football

The Embassy of Brazil in Islamabad brings the photo exhibition “Football” to Pakistan

In continuation of the activities held by the Embassy of Brazil in Islamabad in order to kick off the 2014 Football World Cup celebrations, the Ambassador of Brazil, Mr. Alfredo Leoni, Regional General Manager Marriott Hotels Pakistan, Mr Hartmut Noack, Ms. Rubina Irfan ,senator & chairperson of the women’s wing of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) and the President of the Pakistan Football Federation, Mr. Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat, inaugurated the photo exhibition “Football”, at the Marriott Hotel Islamabad. The exhibition will be opened to the public from May 24th to July 13th, the final day of the World Cup.

Also present at the opening of the photo exhibition were all members of the Pakistani Street Child Team, who got the bronze medal at the Street Child Word Cup, held in Brazil, last April, as well as their coach and representatives of the three institutions which support the team: Azad Foundation, Muslim Hands and the NGO Street Child Word Cup.

The exhibition presents works of the Brazilian sports photojournalist Jorge Rodrigues, who has been covering the world of Brazilian football for the last two decades. Rodrigues was born in Rio de Janeiro and has a journalism degree. He has worked for some of the most important Brazilian newspapers and sports magazines throughout his career. Rodrigues has been present at many Brazilian and International Football Championships. He will be photographing the 2014 Football World Cup, to be held in Brazil, from June 12th to July 13th.

By attending to this exhibition, the Pakistani public will be able to better understand why Brazil is considered the “land of football” and why the 2014 Football World Cup in Brazil will be the most festive of all times. Islamabad football fans will also be able to cheer and enjoy all matches of the 2014 World Cup at the big screens which will be placed in different areas of Marriott Hotel Islamabad.
