ISLAMABAD-
The Supreme Court on Wednesday restored Najam Sethi at the post of Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) while suspending the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) decision to reinstate Zaka Ashraf as the head, a private news channel report.
The three-member bench, headed by Justice Anwar Zahir Jamali heared the case against Ashraf’s reinstatement on a plea filed by the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC).
The court also ordered to restore the administrating committee of PCB.
On behalf of IPC Ministry, Asma Jahangir said that IHC’s interference in policy matters may lead to undermining the sport of cricket.
The court suspended IHC’s decision and issued notices to respondents.
The hearing was adjourned till May 27.
IHC’s Justice Noorul Haq Qureshi on May 17 suspended the management committee appointed by Prime mMinister Nawaz Sharif; patron-in-chief of PCB, and reinstated Zaka Ashraf as the chairman of the cricket board.
PM Sharif has sacked Ashraf in February and appointed a committee chaired by Najam Sethi to oversee the board’s matter.
