IHC orders Adiala Jail superintendent to present accused in prisoner torture case

Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered Rawalpindi Adiala Jail Superintendent Mushtaq Ahmad to present the accused in prisoner torture case.

On Tuesday a single bench of the court comprising Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui heard the prisoner torture case of Syed Ghulam Mustafa Gilani.

The counsel of petitioner Mustafa Gilani, Advocate Imran Shafique, superintendent and assistant superintendent of Adiala Jail also appeared before the court.

Shafique apprised the court that how jail officials tortured his client on May 2014. He told his client Mustafa has been suffering from several ailments and been in jail since four years.

In his remarks, Justice Siddiqui reprimanded the officials over torture of prisoners by jail officials.

Justice Siddiqui expressed annoyed over misbehaviour and cruelty of Assistant Superintendent Tasawar Tarrar.

Later, the court adjourned the hearing till tomorrow (Thursday).
