Solar versus hydel

Government has plans to induct solar power in the country which would cost Rs15 per unit against the hydel power costing at the most Rs2 per unit. It appears rulers are bent upon crushing the poor masses by making plans for generating high priced energy beyond the means of poor masses. A speaker on a TV channel recently remarked that the government has plans only for rich people who can afford high priced energy. The rulers seem to be paralysed to even consider KBD which could solve all our troubles of water and power scarcity but dare not tackle the roadblocks in its way.

The lack of consensus for KBD is not based on solid facts. What prevents the governments to call for a marathon conference comprising politicians and engineers of all the provinces to discuss thread bare the pros and cons of KBD to sort out the four-decade old issues and cobwebs covering the vital issue of KBD. No country in this world could be so ignorant to get loans of billions of dollars from World Bank and ignore blatantly KBD that would provide 3600 MW of power and 40 lac acres of irrigation water to solve our financial problems in one year by provision of 10 billion dollars yearly. We can only lament on the destructive policies of our rulers.

  1. Interesting contrast solar in Pakistan and Australia. In Australia costs of electricity are ridiculous so a lot of people are getting solar now.
