Punjab govt to set up another 1000MW project: Shahbaz

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high-level meeting Sunday which reviewed the pace of implementation of Quaid-e-AzamSolarPark project. The meeting decided that the Punjab government would set up a 1,000 megawatts solar project at Quaid-e-AzamSolarPark with its own resources and funds will be allocated for this purpose in the next budget.

Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said resolving energy crisis was of utmost importance for the promotion of industrial activities. He said the government was determined to remove shortage of electricity and all out measures were being taken for this purpose. He said energy projects were being executed without wasting any time. He said a 100 megawatt solar power project at Quaid-e-AzamSolarPark will be completed in December 2014. The chief minister directed that a survey of the potential sites for the establishment of solar power projects in Punjab be carried out. He expressed the hope that the sincere efforts of the government to overcome energy crisis will prove fruitful and the nation will get rid of load-shedding.

Additional Chief Secretary Energy gave a detailed briefing regarding progress on Quaid-e-AzamSolarPark project. Chief Secretary, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Chairman Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Company, Chairman PEDMIC and concerned officers were present in the meeting.
