Unidentified gunmen resorted to aerial firing outside the residence of the film actor Meera on Friday night, after which they fled from the spot.

According to the Lahore police, the incident occurred late at night outside the famous Pakistani actor’s house, in the ‘U’ block of the Defence-B area. The police added that no loss of life took place due to the assault.

Police Superintendent Sarfaraz Virk said that after receiving an application from the family members of the actor, they would take action against the suspects in the attack.

In 2009, Meera had filed a report due to a similar firing incident outside her residence.

Meera had put the blame on the son of a businessman belonging to Faisalabad, Atiqur Rehman. She had alleged that Rehman carried out the attack with the help of armed men.

Recently, a court had ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to investigate a case against actress Meera and her husband Captain Naveed for a controversial video.

The additional district and sessions judge had passed the order after the police told him that it was a case of cyber crime. Shabbir Muhammad had filed a petition on January 20 that he had watched an ‘immoral clip’ featuring the actress and her husband that he said tarnished the image of Pakistan. He had requested the court to direct the police to register a case against them and put their names on the ECL.

The court had ordered the police to register a case against the two if a cognisable crime was made out. The actress had said that the video is fake and an attempt to malign her. She had said that those who had uploaded the video on internet were trying to create problems for her.
