Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reinstated Zaka Ashraf as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman on Saturday.
The court has also directed to restore 38 sacked employees of the board. With this decision, Zaka Ashraf has become the PCB chief for the third time.
In its verdict, the court has annulled the appointment of Najam Sethi as the PCB chairman and also dissolved the acting committee appointed by him.
Justice Noorul Haq Qureshi in his verdict said that the formation of interim management committee was wrong and against legal procedures.
On welcoming the court’s decision, Zaka Ashraf expressed his wish to meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and urged him for an appointment. He continued saying that the decision is actually the victory of democracy in cricket and has announced to resume his position at the PCB headquarters from Monday.
The verdict came in response to the petition filed by Zaka Ashraf against his removal on directives of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
While talking to media, former chief selector Amir Sohail welcomed the decision and said that the verdict has restored world’s belief on Pakistani courts.
