Govt to boost work on small hydel projects, says CM Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that his government was striving to step up work on small hydel projects, while the federal government would start work on Wasu Dam soon, a private news channel reported on Saturday.

Talking to the World Bank (WB) Country Director in Pakistan Rashid bin Masood Punjab chief minister said that WB assistance in energy, education, health, agriculture, irrigation and social development sectors augurs well.

He said that a comprehensive mechanism as regards to small hydel projects would be prepared with the cooperation of WB. He also lauded WB assistance for the construction of a big Wasu Dam, estimated to cost over $4 billion.
