ISLAMABAD-
Sunni Ittehad Council on Saturday filed a petition in the Supreme Court against Geo TV for airing blasphemous content in its morning show ‘Utho Jago Pakistan’ on Wednesday, a private news channel reported.
SIC leader Shahib Zada Hamid Raza and Advocate Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi filed the petition in SC. Jang Group owner Mir Shakeel ur Rehman, morning show host Shaista Wahidi, Actress Veena Malik and her husband Asad Khattak were named as respondents.
The petitioner said that they have demanded an immediate shut down of Geo TV and a trial against the accused for blasphemy and disrespect of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Ahl-e-Bait (AS) and Khulfa-e-Rashideen (RA).
The court ordered the police to filed the case against the accused on charge of blasphemy.
In Lahore, session court reserved its ruling on four petitions filed against Geo TV.

Meanwhile, protests against Jang group continued on Saturday. General public, civil society members, lawyers and religious parties took out rallies in condemnation of Geo’s blasphemy attempt.
