ISLAMABAD-
Activists of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Friday were baton-charged by police during a protest May 2013 election rigging near Nadra Chowk in Islamabad, a private news channel reported.
The protestors, including PTI’s senior leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Shireen Mazari, were on their way to the election commission’s office when they were barred from entering into the Red Zone area by the police troops deputed at the Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) office.
The district administration had informed the party that the demonstration would not be allowed to go beyond Nadra Chowk.
Despite Qureshi’s attempt to stop the party workers, they crossed the barricades and attempted to forcibly enter in to the Red Zone.
This lead to a clash between the PTI activists and the policemen. The police personnel baton-charged the protestors to dispel them.
