Senate’s Defence Committee Chairman Mushahid Hussain has said that Australia should treat India and Pakistan at par without any double standards on nuclear issue so that regional peace and stability could be ensured and the region may prosper.
He expressed these views in a meeting with Peter Varghese, Secretary Department of Foreign Affairs and trade, Commonwealth of Australia.
He said that Pakistan values its relationship with Australia and desires to further strengthen the multidimensional bilateral cooperation in different fields including trade, agriculture, education, energy and security.

Varghese said, “Pakistan is an important country for Australia and we keenly desire to enhance trade and economic links with Pakistan for mutual benefit of the two sides.”

Can't even sleep with the thought of India in mind …
and, it's getting worse …
.
I wonder how Australia and Canada forgets 1974 Indian nuclear test by diverting peaceful nuclear deal to weapon purposes. While Pakistan is doing excellent in nuclear safety and security yet victim of global dual standards.
Sometimes it appears that Western or European countries really enjoy creating the disequilibrium between the two rival states India and Pakistan. The change in strategic disequilibrium is usually triggered when one major power gives benefits to India and not Pakistan like the very pronounced Indo-US nuclear deal. This simple unknots security dilemma and made Pakistan to go for the same coin. Both the neighboring states should be treated mutually in order to lessen the rift despite heightening.
International actors and their discriminatory attitude towards Pakistan and India have made the region less stable and more volatile. For maintaining the regional peace and if international community is in favor of stable and peace South Asian region then they must treat both the regional rivals at equity. This discrimination in the nuclear realm is some what making both countries hostile to each other and is some how dragging the region into unlimited arms race. Global peace is somewhat relates to the stability of South Asia so it is necessary for the global powers to remove the discriminatory policies and try to make efforts in order to make both nations closer to each other.
In fact they must pay a serious attention towards Indian nuclear facilities with strict rules and norms as they are having a series of continuous nuclear mishap just like the recent KKNPP accident. This all led to protests inside Indian KKNPP region which endangers lives of thousands around. Whereas Pakistan has an excellent track record of 40 years of operating nuclear plants yet we are been discriminated due to our positive assurances and Indian due to their disastrous behavious in the nuclear field.
Over the last decade, it is clear demonstration by Pakistan of an exemplary nuclear security and safety record that not even India as shown, Pakistan has improved the physical protection measures to guard its nuclear installments, its trict export control law is assuring avoidance of any illicit nuclear trade and capable nuclear team can operate any nuclear operations. So, it is a justified demand of Pakistan from the international community to recognize it as a major power and deserving nuclear state to be included in NSG as well.
