One dead, five injured in Bannu power theft issue

A Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) worker was killed and five others injured on Thursday when police and supporters of accused arrested on charges of power theft clashed near Wapda Colony in Bannu.

According to details, the police and PESCO raiding team apprehended the accused on charges of stealing electricity through direct hooks and brought them to Wapda Colony.

According to police reports, enraged relatives of the accused came to Wapda Colony and demanded their release. Later, they turned violent and resorted to aerial firing. In order to disperse the protestors, the police retaliated.

As a result of the cross firing, a PTI worker Mehar Din died on the spot while five others, including policeman Zainullah, sustained injuries. The injured were shifted to Bannu hospital.
