Indian troops have started unprovoked firing at Batal Sector along the Line of Control since Wednesday night.

According to military sources, the Indian army also carried out mortar shelling at Batal sector, creating panic among the locals.

The Pakistan Army also responded to the firing from time to time.

According to reports, no loss of human life was reported yet but the continuous violation of the ceasefire has terrorised the locals.

India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire along the LoC in November 2003, but in recent weeks skirmishes have flared across the heavily-militarised LoC, the de facto border in Kashmir, with both sides blaming each other for violating the agreement.
