Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has tasked Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to start “final dialogue process” with the Taliban by adopting a decisive policy.
The premier has directed the interior minister that if Taliban leadership gives a time and venue for direct talks, it should be held immediately without any delay. The prime minister said that Taliban leadership should be asked for their final demands. If Taliban give a positive response to talks and stick to their pledges then the dialogue process could move to the next phase, he added.
Sources said that if the Taliban fail to comply with their pledges then a final course of strategy would be devised and the option of launching an offensive would remain open.
In view of these instructions, influential government personalities have contacted the Taliban coordination committee and have told them that if Taliban Shura is serious in talks then it should meet directly and decide the time and venue in a week’s time.
