The Punjab government has decided to make Murree a district.
According to sources, the Punjab government would legislate in this regard and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif would formally announce it.
After the city gets the district status, a commissioner and district coordination officer will be appointed in Murree and it will have separate municipal police.
The district will consist of Murree and Kotli Sattian tehsils, the sources said.
