The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has expressed grave concern over the ban on transportation of wheat from Punjab to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa saying it is sheer injustice with people of the province and violation of Article 151 of the constitution.

A letter of provincial government addressed to the federal government issued on Tuesday said this said move would create a very negative impression among the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against the government of Punjab. It said the move would also make difficult the target set by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for collection of wheat to the time of 450,000 tons for the year 2014-15. The implementation of this act would also create problems for the flour mills industries of the province.

The letter said this decision of the Punjab government was also violation of the decision taken place between the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the federal government.

The letter further said that imposition of ban on free trade would create distance and sense of deprivation amongst the provinces that could also result in law and order situation which it maintained was not conducive for the country due to the prevailing internal and external scenario.

The letter has requested the federal government to intervene into the matter and advise the government of Punjab to refrain from this unconstitutional and lawful act and immediately remove the unannounced restriction on inter provincial trade.
