Even Abid Sher doesn’t know when outages will end

No final date can be given to put an end to load shedding, said Water and Power State Minister Abid Sher Ali while talking to journalists at the Lahore Electricity Supply Company Office (LESCO) on Tuesday.

Abid Sher Ali said that electricity consumers were facing over-billing issues. He said that electricity worth Rs 20 to 25 billion was being stolen from the LESCO region. He said no final date could be given for end to load-shedding. He, however, added that power crisis will end before the next general elections. He said those protesting on streets were against the development in Pakistan.

The minister further said that stern action has been initiated against the WAPDA officials involved in power theft, adding that a number of staff members involved in the Kunda System have been fired from their jobs. He said no power theft will be tolerated.

Abid Sher Ali further said that the prime minister has strictly directed to recover all dues from all defaulters at all costs.
