D Day celebrated this Sunday has raised many questions and developing stories. Khan sahib came up with the slogan of bringing about change. But it lost its importance and value the day he welcomed and let Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Javed Hashmi join his party. Whatever the political importance of that act was, it carried away the very meaning of change.
This disappointment did not end there. Let’s have a comparison between the parties, PML-N and PTI. The very first step of governance at any level is to set priority. Whether it’s about managing a house or a government, it works in the same way. Metro project clearly reveals the negligence of Punjab government towards priorities. If half of the budget was spent on the betterment of education and health departments in Rawalpindi, the progress of the city would have been at peak in coming years. But certainly, bus service is more important than health and education for Punjab government.
Coming back to the priorities of PTI, dharnas and jalsas almost after every couple of months, is the change Khan sahib was talking about? What about the letter of Mohd Shehzad Arbab and corruption issues mentioned by him in that letter? What about the DI Khan jailbreak issue? If the cases still remain unresolved for months, if commissioner of a division in KPK will be the person against whom NAB case is underway, if transfers against administrative discipline will be frequently practised, if political interference in the official appointments is going to be the same, then what is that change that Khan sahib keeps raising his slogan for? If PTI’s prerogative is to demand recounting of votes via dharnas and not these critically substantial issues in KPK, then I feel bad that I just wasted away my vote.
