Bol fame Manzar Sehbai, who played the character of Maulana Sahab, made his Bollywood debut in Hasnain Hyderabadwala’s Ya Rab which released this month in Pakistan.
Sehbai plays the character of Dr Mazhar in the Bollywood project and while his performance was flawless, the movie failed to impress due to its low budget and hence, low production quality. It is a story of a good mullah rectifying the mistakes made by the bad mullah.
Being a Muslim, Hasnain felt it was his responsibility to try and clear the misconceptions regarding Islam and especially Jihad. So he spoke to people and decided to make Ya Rab. It lacks the fire power of big names and a string script. It stars Aijaz Khan and Arjumman Mughal in addition to Manzar Sehbai.
Furthermore, it also faced resistance at the Indian censor board which had to edit a lot of scenes before permitting it for release.
