Pakistan Navy Ship “PNS Tipu Sultan” commanded by Captain Muhammad Ali arrived on Saturday at the naval port of Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on a four day visit.
The visit is aimed at maintaining Pakistan Navy’s international contact with regional navies, especially the UAE Navy.
Pakistan and UAE navies conducted a bilateral exercise code named “Nasl Al Bahr” in the Arabian Sea from April 20 to 26, 2014. The exercise was meant to improve interoperability and to attain high quality training with maximum tactical interaction. It provided an opportunity to both navies to explore training ventures in maritime interdiction operations and to improve their tactical policies. Both navies were engaged in various harbour and sea-based activities including, anti-piracy operations, asymmetric threat at sea, above-water warfare, maritime air operations, scenario based exercises, tactical maneuvers as well as search and rescue exercises.
Pak Navy also regularly conducts anti-piracy patrols near the African coast. It has been part of the international Combined Task Force 151 (CTF-151) since January 2009 in an effort to combat piracy in the Gulf of Aden.
PNS Tipu Sultan’s visit to Port Rashid is a manifestation of the close diplomatic and military ties that exist between Pakistan and UAE.
