Dengue is our enemy number one!

Awareness campaign starts in twin cities to counter dengue threat

A two month specially designed awareness campaign was launched in the twin cities to protect the citizens from the threat of deadly disease, Dengue.

“The initiative was taken on the direction of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in view of the potential threat of outbreak of dengue fever,” an official of Capital Administration and Development Division (CA&DD) said. The preparations for the launching of dengue fever awareness campaign were started as early as in January. In this regard a meeting was convened on 17thJanuary, 2014, wherein Dr. Hassan Abbas Zaheer, Project Director, Prime Minister’s Special Initiative for Management of Dengue Fever and Pollen Allergy explained the situation through presentations.

Federal Coordination Cell for Prevention and Control of Dengue (FCPCD) was established within the CA&DD. This cell comprise of Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry (MNA), Malik Abrar Ahmad (MNA), Faridullah Khan, Secretary CA&DD, Additional Secretary CADD, Joint Secretary CADD(Health) Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Member Administration CDA, IG Police Islamabad, Executive Director (Poly Clinic), Administrator (PIMS) Islamabad, Director Health Services (CDA), District Health Officer Islamabad, Director Municipal Administration (CDA), Deputy Director General (Development, CADD), Project Director (Dengue, CA&DD) and Health Education Advisor (CA&DD).

Under the PM’s Special Initiative for Management of Dengue Fever and Pollen Allergy series of activities and training workshops would be organized. In this regard 16 events for conducting the awareness events street theaters have been scheduled for the general public in different parts of Islamabad and Rawalpind and these activities has already started, which would continue for two months.

Faridullah Khan, Secretary CADD had approved to organize “Live Theaters Events” that will help to raise awareness among public about the importance of Dengue Fever. According to schedule issued by the CADD, “Live Theaters Events” will be organized at Lack view park, Shakar Paryan Park (Monument), Fatmah Jinnah Park, Lok Virsa, Chattar Park, Ayuob Park Rawalpindi, Rawaldam Park, Jasmine Garden Park, Islamabad Zoo, Fatma Jinnah Park, Rawaldam Park, Jinnah Park Rawalpindi, Chattar Park, Ayuob park, Rawalpindi and the last event shall be staged on June 28 at Lak View Park, Islamabad.
