Prize bonds worth Rs 30m go missing from train

A box containing prize bonds of State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) went missing from a Karachi Express train when it reached the metropolis from Lahore on Saturday.

According to Railway sources, 10 boxes of SBP currency and prize bonds were being transported via train from Lahore to Karachi. One of the train carriages, which contained prize bonds worth of over Rs30 million, went missing.

The train was scheduled to arrive in Karachi Cantt Railway Station at 12:00 midnight on Friday, however, it reached at 2:00AM, said the source.

Police source said that 10 police officials were deployed for security of the boxes.

However, a sub-inspector was found unconscious in Cantt Railway Station washing area, while other police personnel on security got off the train at Hyderabad.
