Earthquake affectees wait for relief work

Earthquake affectees of the city are passing the second day (Saturday) under open sky as no relief work has been done yet.

At least two persons were killed and over 50 others injured when a mild earthquake shook Nawabshah and its adjoining areas in Sindh in Friday’s wee hours.

The tremor triggered a series of roof and wall collapses in different areas of the interior Sindh sending frightened people streaming into the streets away from their houses.

Rescue officials said a man and a child were killed in two separate incidents of roof collapse in a locality of Nawabshah, adding that over 50 people including women and children were injured. They were shifted to civil hospital Nawabshah where emergency was declared. Local administration was carrying out relief and rescue operations in the affected areas.
