The lawyers community Friday observed strike against the assassination of human rights activist Advocate Rashid Rehman and injuries to two other lawyers in Multan.
The lawyers protested against their fellow’s assassination in Multan, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Hyderabad and other cities. On the appeal of Pakistan Bar Council, the lawyers of Hyderabad wearing black bands did not participate in the proceedings of Sindh High Court, sessions and civil courts of Hyderabad.
They also staged a protest demonstration in front of Hyderabad Press Club and demanded the arrest of assassins of Advocate Rashid Rehman.
The significance of this tragedy cannot be understated…when a lawyer is killed for trying to represent someone accused of a crime…this is a major failing of the judicial system of the country…clearly the radical Islamists have threatened and intimidated everyone who disagrees with them and are capable of murder of those who would stand up for the rights of others…this is a very sad day for Pakistan…these murdering radicals must be brought under control or no one is safe from these barbarians..
