Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan has directed the trustees of Legends Trust to launch an advertisement campaign so that the legends and new talent in art, literature, sports and journalism could approach the trust for their needs.
The governor, who is the chairman of the trust, was talking to the managing trustee of the Legend Trust Shaukat Tareen. Ebad said the great people whose accomplishments brought glories to the nation deserve acknowledgement of their services and financial assistance.
He said the trust would provide all possible help to such people for education, health, and fulfilling other basic necessities.
The governor directed the managing trustee to contact the adviser finance for the release of the funds approved by the Sindh government. Besides, corporate sector and philanthropists should also be encouraged for funds, he added.
Shaukat Tareen told the governor that secure investment from the initial grant of Rs 60 million had been made and it had been giving good returns. He said 32 families were being assisted for six years from profit, while the principal amount was intact.
He further said that a programme had been devised for fund raising in September this year. Under the programme, legends and emerging talent in arts and culture, literature, sports and journalism will be provided financial assistance in the shape of awards.
The governor was told that every year all trustees using their personal contacts will collect Rs 10 million donation while various donor agencies are being contacted to take the funds to Rs 500 million.
