BAHAWALPUR-
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday invited Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief Imran Khan for a meeting over ‘a cup of tea or coffee’.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of 100 MW Solar Power Project near Bahawalpur, PM Sharif asked the PTI chief to meet him to resolve the issues instead of staging a protest.
The PM further said that some political parties wanted to destabilize democracy by protesting.
He said that the protests were actually aimed against the development carried out by his government.
Speaking about the solar power project, PM Sharif has reiterated the resolve to overcome the power crisis in the minimum possible time.
The government will succeed to overcome the grave challenge before completion of its tenure, he added.
The premier lauded the efforts of the Chinese Ambassador and thanked him for his cooperation in the project.
PM Sharif said that 4100 MW electricity will be generated through solar energy while overall 2100 MW electricity will be generated during the next eight years in the country, making it self-reliant in the energy sector.
He announced that special economic zones will be setup in 2100 kilometer long Pak-China Economic Corridor while a modern railway system will also be included to link Gwadar with China.
Addressing the crowd, PM Sharif said that the new proposed motorway under this corridor will also be linked with Bahawalpur from Multan which will greatly benefit the people of the area.
