KARACHI-
A court on Thursday granted bail to the agent of US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) who was arrested on Monday for carrying ammunition while boarding a flight to Islamabad from Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, a private news channel reported.
He was granted bail of payment of surety bonds of Rs 10, 00,000.
He has been ordered t to appear in court for further hearing of the case.
The FBI agent, identified as Joel Cox Eugene was detained on Monday by airport authorities when he was found carrying 15 bullets of 9mm calibre and a gun magazine.
Joel Cox had arrived in Pakistan three months ago to train Pakistani police. American authorities maintain that Cox was not armed during travel and that the 15 bullets of 9mm calibre were recovered from his luggage.
Police also seized three small knives and a wrench along with his laptop computer and cell phone. The electronic equipment has been sent to a forensics lab for analysis.
The result of the analysis is awaited.
Cox appeared in court Tuesday to face anti-terrorism charges, which restrict unauthorized weapons or ammunition on commercial flights, and is scheduled to appear again on Saturday.
