Don’t take 11 May protest seriously, says Fazl

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F) Fazlur Rehman has said that the May 11 protest announced by Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has nothing to do with democracy, a private news channel reported.

Fazlur Rehman while talking to media in Multan said that the announced protest sit-in has no importance. It is ridiculous that those who won the polls with rigging are crying foul, he added.

Major opposition in the parliament, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has also decided against participation in the May 11 protest. The party’s leader and former president Asif Ali Zardari has said that the institutions should function within their constitutional jurisdiction.

He said that his party will not participate in any campaign which opposes the democracy.

The government however has granted permission to PTI to hold demonstration at D-Chowk of Islamabad.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar said that the government has no objection over the protest and will provide full security to the protesters.
