Shaan Shahid has proved that he wants to work to bring the Pakistani film industry to a point where everyone prefers to watch a Pakistani film. In his recent comments on an award show he called actors who work abroad as ‘cheap sell outs’ got various reactions from the public.
However, when Ali went on stage to receive his award for the ‘International Icon of the Year’, he said in his acceptance speech, “We make excuses to hide our weaknesses, sometimes, in the name of patriotism, sometimes, in the name of other things. I think we should be honest. We should speak the truth and the time has come when the new generation should be told the truth.” He mentioned a list of artistes who have worked in Bollywood, including Bade Ghulam Ali, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Mohsin Khan, Zeba Bakhtiar, Salma Agha, Shafqat Amanat Ali and Atif Aslam. He said that these stars have made their mark in India through their work and have received tremendous appreciation for it.
How could you expect our super star to be quiet over this, on Sunday night Shaan gave his response to Ali Zafar statement and said,
“It hurts to see when your own misunderstand you. Ali Zafar needs to understand when I said undersell it means you are worth more then you are selling for positivity is a sign that show us that ego is not making your decisions. And your country is in need of you. Your talent has been born and nurtured in this land it is your responsibility to give back because your local industry needs you more than them. If I wasn’t global or did not agree with Indian content, I would not be making Arth. It is not what you do but how you do it. But then again we all have ears, ego and tons of people living up our sleeves hissing at the fire called ego. I havent lost until my own leave my side. I hope you understand as I still have hope that one day you will realize we are all green and have a place next to the crescent on our flag.”
