The Supreme Court (SC) has admitted for regular hearing a petition filed by Zaid Hamid seeking registration of treason case against senior journalists, including Hamid Mir, Najam Sethi and Hassan Nisar.
The SC has admitted the petition for hearing after abolishing the objections raised by the registrar apex court
Hamid had filed an appeal plea against the registrar office objections.
The court has directed the office to fix the petition for hearing. These directives were issued by Justice Nasirul Mulk during the course of hearing of this petition in his chamber on Tuesday.
Advocate Ahmad Raza Kasuri appeared on behalf of the petitioner. Hamid had filed an application in the SC seeking institution of treason case against Hamid Mir, Najam Sethi, Hassan Nisar, Marvi Sarmad, Imtiaz Alam, Nusrat Javed and Asma Jahangir among others. The SC registrar had raised objections over it. The petitioner had made SAFMA and Ministry of Information respondents in his application filed in 2012.
