Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced the appointment of Waqar Younis as the head coach of National Cricket team.

PCB has appointed him as the head coach for two consecutive years. He will take over his responsibilities as head coach in June.

Waqar, who had coached Pakistan in 2010 and 2011 before resigning on health and personal grounds, again expressed his willingness for the post after his previous application was rejected in early February by a PCB coach-finding committee.

The national team will tour Sri Lanka for a series of Test matches, One-day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals.

The former fast bowler expressed his joy over being appointed head coach stating that the focus was on the upcoming 2015 World Cup in Australia.

The PCB will make an announcement for the supporting coaching staff later.

Waqar  is a former Pakistani right-arm fast bowler in cricket and widely regarded as one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time. As of 2012, he holds the record for the youngest Pakistani Test captain and the third youngest Test captain in history (22 years 15 days). He played 87 Tests and 262 One Day International (ODI) matches for Pakistan during his international cricket career from 1989 to 2003.
