Pakistan committed to Kashmir cause: president

President Mamnoon Hussain on Tuesday reaffirmed strong support to the cause of Kashmiri people and said Pakistan remains committed to finding a just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.

In a meeting with a delegation of elected members of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council, who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, the president said the government accords high priority to the development of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and all out steps are being taken for the welfare and uplift of the people of Azad Kashmir.

The president urged for early completion of the various ongoing developmental projects in AJK and assured that government would provide all possible assistance to the AJK government in completion of developmental projects and in its effort to bring about qualitative change in the lives of the people of Kashmir.

The president said the government had already announced zero-tolerance for the corruption in the country and emphasized the need for ensuring complete transparency and accountability in execution of all projects so as to foster good governance in AJ&K.

The delegation thanked the President for meeting and appreciated the keen interest of the president in development of AJ&K and uplift and betterment of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The delegation included among others Muhammad Barjees Tahir, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan/Minister In charge, AJ&K Council, Sardar Muhammad Naeem Khan, Sardar Muhammad Saghir Khan, Ch Muhammad Mehboob, Engr. Rafaqat Hussain Awan and Raja Babar Ali Zulqarnain.
