The power shortfall in the country on Tuesday further jumped to 3,500 MW forcing the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) to resort to 10-12 hour load-shedding in its five regions including twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
According to daily data released by National Transmission and Dispatch Company Limited (NTDC), the total generation was recorded as 10,700 MW against the demand of 14,200 MW at 0930 hours.
The hydel generation stood at 3,400 MW, Thermal 1,220 MW and Independent Power Producers (IPPs) 6,080 MW.
Meanwhile, the Indus River System Authority has also reduced water discharge from both water reservoirs Tarbela and Mangla dams resulting decrease hydel generation.
