NA adopts resolution to increase salaries of federal government employees
National Assembly on Tuesday unanimously adopted a resolution to increase basic salaries of federal government employees in proportion to price hike.
The resolution was moved by Begum Tahira Bukhari mentioning that “The House was of the opinion that the government should take steps to immediately make increase in the basic salaries of the Federal Government employees in proportion to price hike.”
Speaking over the resolution, Parliamentary Secretary for Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, Statistics & Privatization Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan said the government would try to give maximum relief to its employees in available resources.
He said no such statement was given by Federal Minister for Finance Senator Ishaq Dar that there would be no increase in salaries of the federal government employees in the upcoming budget.
Rana said it was the priority of the government to control inflation and keep it in single digit.
Member National Assembly (MNA) Rai Hassan Nawaz also supported the resolution saying that the purpose of bringing this resolution was to make the government realize that budget was coming and there should be an increase in the salaries of the government employees.
Ayesha Syed, while taking part in the discussion said if the salaries of the government employees were not increased it would further promote corruption.
Sulman Baloch said if the federal government did not increase the salaries, the provincial governments would also follow the same.
Jamshed Dasti while paying tribute to the mover of the resolution demanded 50 per cent increase in the salaries of the government employees.
