Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid said on Monday that media can play an important role in transferring Pak-China friendship to the new generation.
During a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong, Rashid asserted that the countries enjoy a unique relation which has stood the test of time.
“This relationship has been further strengthened since the start of a new democratic setup in the country,” he said.
He said that Pak-China ties are based on strong mutual trust, excellent cooperation and convergence of views on most of the regional and global issues.
Rashid said that the government condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations as “we consider it a potent threat to regional peace and security”.
He said that Chinese nationals working on projects in Pakistan are an asset for the country and providing them security is the top priority of the Government of Pakistan.
He said the government is taking practical steps to ensure their safety as it is “our obligation to create a conducive atmosphere for Chinese nationals working in Pakistan”.
The ambassador and the minister agreed to form a joint Pak-China media forum and emphasised the need for media exchange programmes so that both countries could learn from each other’s experiences and practices.
