Five power towers blown up in Peshawar, Mardan

Unidentified miscreants blew up five electricity towers in Peshawar and Mardan, suspending power supply to the national grid late on Sunday night.

According to National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) Chairman Masood Khan, the miscreants had planted explosive material which blew up two major transmission lines.

He said that three towers of 500 kV Sheikh Muhammadi Peshawar-Tarbela transmission line and three towers of 220 kV Sheikh Muhammadi Daud Khel were blown up by terrorists.

The NTDC chairman said the damage to power lines caused a shortfall of 150MW to the national grid.

Khan said alternate means were being used for the supply of electricity.
