We won’t forget; IHC renames library after Fizza Malik

ISLAMABAD-

Islamabad High Court has renamed its library as ‘Fizza Library’, in remembrance of Fizza Malik, a junior lawyer who was among the 11 victims of a suicide bombing and firing attack at the Islamabad F-8 district courts on March 3rd, 2014.

Malik, 23, had graduated from Islamabad School of Law under a long-distance learning programme with University of Northumbria.

She had started her career as a lawyer just two months before the fateful incident.

She was awaiting her license for law practice and had been accepted for LLM in a UK University.

The loss  of such a young and promising life followed an outpour of grief across national media and social networks.

BBC called her the ‘Face of Pakistan’s latest tragedy.’

11 people, including additional sessions judge Rafaqat Awan, were killed and 29 others were wounded in the district court attack.

With reports of independent groups naming  Lal Masjid Library after al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden  and a mosque after Mumtaz Qadri; the murderer of slain governor Punjab Salman Taseer, a tribute to an actual inspiration and a proud face of Pakistan by IHC has been appreciated across social media and public.
