At least five security personnel were killed and three others sustained injuries in a remote-controlled bombing in South Waziristan Agency (SWA) on Wednesday.
According to sources, the roadside bomb went off when a vehicle of security forces was passing through Shaktoi area of Ladha Tehsil in SWA, killing five security personnel and injuring three others.
The security forces cordoned off the area soon after the bombing and started a search operation. The bodies were shifted to Bannu and Tank hospitals.
The banned terrorist outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility of the attack. A terrorist commander from an undisclosed place telephoned a private TV channel and claimed the responsibility. He said that explosives were planted in the way of the security forces’ convoy in different areas.
