Pakistan, Iran agree to boost economic cooperation

TEHRAN/ISLAMABAD

Pakistan and Iran have agreed to focus on enhancing bilateral economic cooperation for common good of both nations.
The agreement came during the 7th round of Annual Bilateral Political Consultations held in Tehran between the two counties. Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry and Deputy Iranian Foreign Minister Ibrahim Rahimpour jointly chaired the meeting.
All areas of bilateral cooperation, including politics, security, economy and culture were discussed.
Chaudhry highlighted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s vision of a peaceful neighborhood for economic development and prosperity of the people of the region. He also underlined Pakistan’s desire to further strengthen existing bonds of friendship and good neighbourly ties with Iran.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. Both sides agreed that a peaceful and stable Afghanistan is vital for stability of the region.
