Railways Minister attends 21st pass-out parade ceremony

Railways will progress substantively and its police force will play a major role in its development, said Pakistan Railways (PR) Federal Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique while addressing the 21st pass-out parade ceremony of Lower School Course at the PakistanRailwayPoliceAcademy on Tuesday.

The minister appreciated that the Railway Police has shown the potential as well as zeal to ensure safety of passengers and protection of trains.

The minister said that the matter of salary enhancement has been brought to the knowledge of the prime minister, adding that the salaries of the Railway Police (RP) were far less as compared to their counterparts in the province.

He assured that salaries would be increased stage-wise after the budget.

He said that recruitments in the RP would be on merit and responsibility would be given only to the competent officers, he added.

He stressed the need for continuous hard work at all levels for the nation’s collective progress. He underlined the need for stability and peace in order to achieve prosperity in the country.

The minister appreciated that for the first time in many years Railways was showing signs of improvement, adding that the credit goes to PR management as well as the workers. The minister maintained that corruption has been weeded out from the higher levels of PR and that there was no political interference in the department anymore.

Pakistan Railway Police (PRP) Inspector General (IG) Ibne Hussain while addressing on the occasion called for setting up IT lab, upgradation of training school as well as improvement of the training ground for better results.
