President Mamnoon Hussain has said latest communication technology should be put in use for greater interaction among the ombudsmen of Islamic countries to achieve the objective of good governance and social justice.
Addressing a two-day conference on Networking of Ombudsmen in OIC member countries here on Monday, he said this enhanced connectivity will bring a new revolution and enable the ombudsmen to share knowledge, experience and ideas for the common good of the peoples.
Hussain said the federal ombudsman has been functional in Pakistan since 1983 and it enjoys complete autonomy. He said we are eager to promote new norms of ombudsmanship for good governance and improvement of administration. Each province in the country has its own Ombudsman. Both the federal and provincial ombudsmen keep an eye on workplace harassment of women and investigate maladministration issues.
