‘We love armed forces not traitors’

The establishment is playing a dark and dirty game to give Musharraf a safe exit and this will not only cause miscarriage of justice but also polarize the Pakistani society, strengthening its belief that there are separate laws made in the name of Islam for the poor and the rich, said speakers during a protest demonstration on Sunday.

The protest was staged by the civil society of Karachi in front of the Press Club against alleged backdoor maneuvering to provide the model dictator of Pakistan a safe passage to leave the country without paying for his serious crimes including high treason, massacre of innocent boy and girl students of Lal Mosque seminary, trafficking the daughter of the nation Dr Aafia Siddiqui and her minor children and murder of Baluch nationalist leader Nawab Akbar Bugti.

Pasban Pakistan General Secretary Usman Moazzam said they loved their armed forces but not the traitors. He said it would also affect the feelings of people if the traitors were not punished for their crimes.

He said they should uphold their constitution and it needed to punish those who toppled the elected democratic governments and kept the constitution in abeyance. He suggested that the dictator should wait till the courts decide his fate.

He said any hasty step to allow him flee the country would certainly backfire for the PML-N government. He said the establishment was playing a bad game not only to save the skin of Musharraf but also to malign Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, making him responsible in the eyes of public for giving Musharraf a safe passage.

He said the dictator must also be held accountable for selling the daughter of the nation, Dr Aafia Siddiqui, and thousands of other innocent Pakistanis for the US dollars. He said the whole nation was standing with its brave armed forces and all conspiracies against the national security institutions would be foiled.

Shakil Sheikh, president Pasban Karachi chapter, said the nation would not allow sending Musharraf abroad and hushing up cases against him like the Memo gate Case. He said Musharraf had committed grave crimes against Pakistan, its constitution and people. He said this coward man instead of facing his cases was trying to flee and the establishment was also helping him in this evil design.

He said it would be shocking news for the whole Pakistani nation if he was allowed to leave the country and never return again like Hussain Ahmed Haqqani on Memo gate scandal.

Pakistan Lawyers Forum President Abdul Waheed Advocate said Pakistan needed rule of law and supremacy of constitution. He said there was another NRO in the offing to allow Musharraf leave the country and put cases against him in cold storage.

The civil society leaders demanded not to allow Musharraf leave the country till all cases against him reach their logical end. They asked the government to stop its inaction on the issue of Dr Aafia and the daughter of the nation should be brought home at the earliest.

The protestors including teachers, lawyers, traders, students, women and children raised slogans against Musharraf and in favour of Pakistan Army. Later they dispersed peacefully.
