Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar on Sunday disclosed that first ever high powered ‘Commission for overseas Pakistanis’ would soon be formed to redress their grievances in Pakistan.
He said that a majority of expatriates settled across the world since long were facing hardships in getting redressal of their grievances about their properties and other matters in Pakistan.
Keeping in view of their grievances, he said that critical issues were taken up with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the chief minister who agreed to the idea of formation of a high powered commission in this regard.
Unfolding the salient features of the commission, he said that its full fledged secretariat would be established in Lahore and initially one Overseas Pakistanis Commissioner Punjab would be appointed who would look into the grievances of expatriates facing in Punjab. He said that all their problems would be resolved under one roof.
Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said that in the first phase committees would also be constituted one each at all districts of the province. He said no one would be allowed at any cost to play with the expatriate Pakistanis and their interests would be looked after in Pakistan. He said that innocent and patriotic overseas Pakistanis as a result of saving of their hard earned money invest in Pakistan but unfortunately they fall prey to swindlers and some by their relatives and deprived of their investment. He said that email, landline telephone and fax, will be notified and made public through media. He said he would personally supervise and monitor the performance of the commission and make it a success for the welfare of the overseas Pakistanis.
The governor said that all-out efforts were being made to give the rights of vote in general election to all overseas Pakistanis besides allowing them contest in the polls.
