Security officials on Sunday claimed to have killed a commander of the banned terrorist outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Kulachi area of Dera Ismail Khan.
Sources said Hakimullah alias Matti was one of the masterminds behind the Dera Ismail Khan jailbreak.
Acting District Police Officer Sadiq Baloch told Pakistan Today that the house of Hakimullah alias Matti in village Rohri in Tehsil Kulachi was raided on a tip-off. Baloch said Matti opened fire on the police, injuring an Elite Force official.
The encounter, Baloch said, was continued for 30 minutes. Matti was among top five Taliban commanders who planned an attack on Central Jail Dera Ismail Khan. The killed terrorist was wanted by DI Khan police in three terrorist cases.
Dozens of heavily-armed Taliban terrorists had freed nearly 175 inmates, including 35 high-profile terrorists in the prison break in 2013.
Matti belonged to Noorzai tribe and was a resident of Rori village.
