Nine new engines join Pakistan Railways from China

KARACHI-

Nine new engines imported from China have been inducted into Pakistan Railways, a private news channel reported on Saturday.

Railways Minsiter Khwaja Saad Rafique inaugurated the locomotives in a ceremony in Karachi.

The new engines are the first new induction in the national railways in 13 years.

Rafique, speaking at the occasion, said that China will be providing 58 new engines by the end of 2014 while 23 engines will be arriving in Pakistan shortly.

The minister said that he is determined to improve the performance of the department and won’t tolerate corruption in Pakistan Railways.
