CDA launches campaign against sub-standard food

Acting in accordance with directions of CDA Administration Member Amir Ali Ahmed, Directorate of Health Services (DHS) is vigorously active to eliminate the availability of sub-standard, adulterated and un-hygienic food stuff from the capital.

DHS has been carrying on its successful campaign against sub-standard and un-hygienic eatables in the city for quite some time. In line with the directions of member administration strict actions, on the spot as per law, is taken against the violators of the principles of public health and the relevant laws. Moreover, zero tolerance is being shown towards the food handlers who don’t follow the law and commit a second offence. The DHS is further trying that all food handlers must wear proper dress i.e caps, aprons and gloves etc.

The DHS teams during last week conducted several operations in this regard in different areas of Islamabad. During this activity 69 notices and 28 challans were issued. One bakery and one milk shop at Sitara Market, one milk shop at G-8/4 market and one cafeteria at sector G-7/4 were partially sealed. Similarly, two hundred litters of expired and non branded soft drinks and juices, 100 packets of non-branded snacks and 58 utensils including copping baskets, plates and cups were also confiscated from various hotels and shops. The confiscated food stuff and utensils were done away with afterwards.
