PAT invites PTI to join protesting bandwagon

Pakistan Awami Tehreek leadership has invited the PTI to join hands to run a campaign against the present government which it believes is a product of faulty electoral system.

Sources revealed that the PTI would deliberate upon the PAT offer in its Core Committee meeting on April 25.

The PAT is holding protest demonstrations through-out the country on May 11. The PAT provincial president Basharat Jaspal met the PTI leader Chaudhry Ejaz with an invitation to participate in the protests. The PAT leaders also met other parties’ leaders also in connection with its May 11 rallies and demonstrations against the present government. The PTI did not make any commitment then. Later, the PTI also decided to organise a public meeting in Islamabad on May 11 and its leader Ejaz Chaudhry visited the office of Basharat Jaspal a couple of days back. Ejaz Chaudhry requested the PAT leaders let it manage public meeting in Islamabad while the latter is free to hold all its rallies elsewhere.

The PAT sources disclosed that Basharat told the PTI delegation that his party could consider his request but only if PTI joins hands with it in a greater cooperation to change the system and present leadership.

A PAT leader requesting anonymity said that the PAT has announced its protest schedule well before the PTI. The PTI has requested us to abandon its programme to the extent of Islamabad. But we have other plans if the PTI is ready. Ball is now in the PTI’s court,” he said.

Meanwhile, while announcing protest demonstration on May 11, Allama Tahir-ul-Qadri said that if the present rulers are given six months more, they would cause irreparable loss to the country.

Qadri is due to announce the course of his revolution on May 11.
